Guest Scholars can audit courses for personal enrichment at Adelphi’s Garden City campus. The majority of the courses in the University are open to Guest Scholars, including but not limited to literature, social sciences, history and foreign language.
Because there is no credit attached to the courses taken by a Guest Scholar there is no academic responsibility. Students who were previously or are currently enrolled as matriculated students at Adelphi University, but who have not graduated, are not eligible to enroll in this program.
Courses for Guest Scholars are only available in the fall and spring semesters.
Fees range from $50-$150 per course. You can register by completing the registration form and submitting it to University College. In-person registration is also available by appointment.
Guest Scholars may receive a refund if the course(s) is dropped within the first two weeks of the semester. To drop a course, call 516.877.3400 to begin the refund process. Any drops after the first two weeks of class will not be refunded.
You may enroll in many courses offered at Adelphi. However, the following are not open to Guest Scholars:
Search for classes using Course Search; from here you can narrow the search parameters to “Garden City” campus, “All Undergraduate” courses, choose an upcoming semester, and the school or discipline of your choice. After clicking the “Find Courses” button, you are able to view the course description by selecting the course number. Registration information, including dates when Guest Scholar registration begins, will be sent in December for the Spring semester and July for the Fall semester.

No. This program is open to anyone who is 21 and over. The only exception is that students who were previously or are currently enrolled as matriculated students at Adelphi University, but who have not graduated, are not eligible to enroll.

Yes, you have until two weeks after the class begins to get a refund. Students must call 516.877.3400 to drop a course.
No. You are not a registered student, but rather auditing the class. You must present your yellow registration card to the professor on the first day of class and inform him or her that you are a Guest Scholar.
No, we must first receive department approval. You will be notified after approval is received to confirm your classes for the upcoming semester.
Guest Scholars will not receive a student ID card since they are auditing classes. You do, however need a parking sticker, which can be obtained by bringing your yellow registration card to Public Safety in the lower level of Levermore Hall.
